Keyboard for “Old Style” English

Zipfile of installation modules

This is a keyboard using the UK English locale to afford easy entry of the long-s ‘ſ’ character, and all ligature characters that the ‘old style’ text formatting from before around 1800 requires.

This keyboard map uses a mixture of input methods to get easy access to all the ligatures required for proper formatting of Old Style text, following the rules either before or after c. 1760.

An example of the use both of this keyboard layout and the SimonettaExt font that it references has been made available in my free text section.

Remember that neither the key pressed nor the second key
will be displayed if there is a match of the two within the keyboard layout:
only the “resulting glyph” will show up.

Any one of the dead keys above followed by any other
character will result in both characters’ being
inserted. To insert a space character following a dead key
two spaces must be keyed, in order to produce one space.
